If a girl seems to go out of her way not to be near me...does this mean she doesn't like me very much?

she scoots away when i sit near her even by accident, or she only ever gives me 1 or 2 word answers...i like her, and think shes really cute. i catch my self staring at her sometimes...and feel really stupid for doing so...i had a chance a couple of months ago and i swore she liked me...but i kept telling myself that it wasn't the right time...anyways, now things tend to feel awkward, i don't know if its just me, or if its her too...any insight?
