What should I do for swollen taste buds?? They HURT!!?

The other day I ate some pizza that had hot peppers on it & surely enough, my taste buds on the very tip of my tongue swelled up the very next day. I don't know what to do about it, I've tried everything from coating it with milk, putting sugar on it & gargling warm salt water, but they still are causing me a great deal of pain. Also today, it got even bigger than it was before & hurts even more. Ah, I just don't know what to do about it!!! Should I see a doctor, or will this go away in time??
